This book was one of my kid's favorite books, so I bought this one for my 1 year old class.
As a former Professor of Children's Literature now retired, I promised my Great Grandchildren at birth, that I would provide them each with 10 age and interest appropriate books each year. The Napping House was one of 20 starter board books for my two newest Greats! I loved it as a Professor and hope my babies will enjoy it as well.
Believe it or not, our eye doctor recommended this book to us! The minute we got home from his office, , I checked on Amazon.com and sure enough, there it was. I ordered one, which I thought I would keep for myself (I collect all children's books that have a reference to "Granny" because that's what I am to our grandkids). I figured I'd just read it to the little ones when they came to visit. The first one I read it to (4 years old) liked it so much that he took it home with him, and I had to order another one for me! Now I'm anxious to order the sequel. Our oldest granddaughter is a kindergarten teacher, and I can't wait to show it to her. Odds are that she'll want one for herself to share with her students. What a delightful little book.
I loved this book when I read it to my granddaughter in the late 1980's. It is fun and the illustrations are beautiful. I wanted to get one for a friend that has her first grandchild, that is 3 years old, and loves her grandmother to read to her. The illustrations on each page or perfect for the story being told and it is a fun book. The only thing I was disappointed in is that the coloring of the pages is darker and flatter than the original book - but if you never saw the original - it's not a problem. The artwork is perfect, the color is okay, and the story is lots of fun.
We have 10 grandchildren, and I have read this book many, many times to the. There is nothing more precious than curling up with a child to read, and this one has been a favorite. I have also bought many copies of this book to give as gifts, usually along with a crocheted baby afghan. Goes together perfectly! I highly recommend this book, not only for the sweet story but also for the amazing artwork. I love it, and think you and yours will too.
My daughter loved this book when she was a toddler, so we got it for my baby niece. This copy is the same one at my local Barnes & Noble but at 2/3 the price.If you haven't read this, the repetitive cadence lulls your little one into a calm state and is great for bed time. The artwork is beautiful and detailed, and each page plays off the last - you can follow the motion of the characters page over page, even when their "verse" is over.
My mom read this book to me growing up and it was my absolute favorite. I ordered it for a friend's child and will get my own copy once I have a kid! The illustrations are amazing and it is just an adorable book.
This was one of my favorite books as a kid! When I saw that it came in a boardbook version I knew I had to get it! My children are 2 and 1 and do not do well with paper books yet. However we love to read and board books are great for them at this time. They have loved it and it has held up so well!
Nice quality board book. This one one of my favorite stories and I've bought one for all of my grandkids. So fun and Rhyming too. Great for little one who love repetitive sounds stories and words. This is perfect for that age. You wont get tired of reading this one over and over!
